Considérant's salaried chief gardener, 'directeur général de l'horticulture' at $500-600 a year; built the great garden (wells, irrigation canals, sanded walks, nurseries in quincunx, glazed frames) for $3,000-4,000 and led its four gardeners off in the 1857 liquidation (Savardan chs. VI, VII, XV, XVI; surname only). Forename from Cordillot; Lexington #241 'Barbet[?] Joseph, 45' on the Cousin party's ship, which Pratt's 'Gardeners Barbot, Michel, and young DeGuelle' matches. Pratt's 'Alexis' is unsourced (cf. Alexis Barbier). DMN 1906's 'Mr. Barbot', merged into George Barbeau, may be him — see findings
